Fueling MS Research with Your Blood Samples and Data!
The iConquerMS community has contributed to many research studies on a wide variety of topics, including the long-term effects of COVID-19 vaccines in people with MS.
The COVER-MS study shows the frequency of vaccination reactions in people with MS is similar to that reported in the COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials.
Through a partnership with Quest Diagnostics and the National MS Society, a COVER-MS sub-study is looking at the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines at preventing the virus in people with MS. As part of this effort, 300 COVER-MS participants donated blood every 6 months over a 2-year period. These samples are being analyzed to determine how MS drugs and other factors affect the immune response (antibody levels) to COVID-19. Stay tuned for these results!
By donating their blood samples and data, the iConquerMS community continues to drive future groundbreaking discoveries!
A new collection of blood samples from iConquerMS members would not only refresh the ACP Repository’s inventory but also include samples from individuals who have taken newer MS treatments. These samples could be analyzed using advanced methods like RNA sequencing. In addition, collecting blood samples and accompanying data over time would provide a detailed picture of each participant’s MS journey.
iConquerMS brings together people with MS, their care partners, researchers and others to understand MS and search for solutions. If you haven’t already, please consider joining today!
