Massachusetts stem cell debate

nikki writes "Today's Boston Globe had this story about the debate before joint Massachusetts House and Senate committees yesterday regarding a bill that would make Massachusetts a "safe haven" for stem cell research. This bill is being sponsored by Sen. Cynthia S. Creem of Newton, and is being supported by researchers, biotech companies, and people with medical conditions - like MS - that may greatly benefit from embryonic stem cell research. The next debate before the Joint Committee on Health Care hasn't been scheduled yet, but I'm keeping an eye on it." art: so what's this 'ethical boundary' everyone talks about? I haven't seen much discussion on this. I don't think embryonic stem cells (or embryos for that matter) are mentioned in the bible. Why is it the ethics of a christian (or catholic) bible that only matter? There are religions that feel eating meat is unethical, but we don't have legislative debate about that.
