Marijiuanna user doesn't get tax deduction
This story from Canada seems a little ironic to me. A woman suffering from MS has been given a smoker's permit that allows her to smoke 5 grams of marijiuanna a day. The bizarre thing is that she purchases her marijiuanna from street dealers for $10 a gram! They clearly don't give her a receipt to turn into the government so she is stuck with the cost which adds up quickly. Last year she spent $12,000 on marijiuanna! The Canadian pension plan gives her $600 a year to cover medical costs so this woman would like to be compensated with tax deductions. It appears to me that she should overcome this cost by growing her own marijiuanna, maybe she could sell it to others to make back her money! (just kidding)This is a serious issue as the woman is facing imminent bankruptcy. Hopefully her issue will be resolved.
