Business Wire (via Yahoo!) reports on a program for sharps disposal being developed in Alameda. It would involve a mailback program to avoid people disposing of their needles in the trash and risking infecting handlers through needle sticks. I've always disposed of my needles appropriately, but have always thought that there wasn't much concern from my medical practitioners about making sure I did it right. I'm sure plenty of people are just chucking them in the bin.
