Statin therapy in mice inhibits myelin repair or remyelination in the central nervous system
This quote sums up this article on statins:
“The results of our study indicate that simvastatin has in fact, a slightly deleterious effect on myelin under non-pathological conditions,” adds Dr. Miron. “During remyelination, there is a decrease not only in myelin production but also in oligodendrocyte number as a result of simvastatin treatment. The findings also suggest that simvastatin inhibits CNS remyelination by blocking oligodendrocyte progenitor cell differentiation or maturation into myelinating oligodendrocytes.”
It wasn't that long ago that we were looking at statins as a therapy for MS. Seems like there's a bit of understanding that needs to take place before we continue with that idea.

I used atorvastatin 40mg per
I used atorvastatin 40mg per day for two years.
I recovered speech, cognition, stop having small fits and reduced my yearly relapse rate from 3 to less than 1.
I would be on it today but for the accumulative detremental effects it has on tendons and ligaments (mentioned on this site a while back).
A good pill for your heart and ms just take 10 mg Lipitor and 60mg Q-10 daily and do not go over the top.
It is also important to note
It is also important to note that this article refers only to simvastatin (Zocor) under non-pathological conditions in MICE. Like Neil, I, too, have been on Lipitor (20MG/day) for years and I have experienced no negative side effects.
