This report funded by the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation to put a number on the population that suffers from movement-limiting disorders. MS ranks third after stroke and spinal cord injury as reason for paralysis or partial paralysis in the US.
This is an important piece
This is an important piece of work and I would like to see a similar report for the UK.
A figure of 85,000 UK residents with MS has been has been bandied about for the last ten years without the slightest care as to whether it is true, or what effect a bogus figure may have on levels of funding for research.
I am sure the figure must be far more than 100,000 but who’s going to make a fuss about it if nobody really knows.
