War stress causes relapses

These data suggest that civilian exposure to war stress is associated with increased risk for MS relapse. These findings provide insight to stress-related risk factors associated with relapses of MS.

It's always interesting to see how those studying stress in MS find situations that cause stress and use them to look at MS. In this case, it was the 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel.

Which means the particular kind of stress is much more likely to be 'fight or flight' reactions, rather than say, the stress of a divorce. I had one memorable exacerbation immediately following the 9-11 attacks. Fear has something to do with it, although I have long suspected I have an allergy to my own adrenaline (and epinephrine, too). Maybe it's being unable to predict or change anything, so your adrenaline needs an outlet it's not getting.

Here's another study subject: were there increases in the national exacerbation rate, on and immediately following, the day of the attacks? There were at my house.
