Maternal MS affects babies' birth weight but not risk of complications

A study that linked records from two Danish registries (an MS registry and a birth registry) compared the childbirth experiences in women (a) before onset, (b) between onset and diagnosis, and (c) after diagnosis. The data were adjusted for factors such as mother's age, gestation in weeks, and C-sections. Results showed that babies born to mothers with established MS (post-diagnosis) had lower birth weights compared to those born to mothers who were pre-MS onset. However, no significant differences in complications or use of interventions were seen among the groups.
