MS Simulator Booth

I was interviewed by the Boston Globe a few days ago after trying out the 'MS Simulator' booth at the Biogen Idec display at the American Academy of Neurology conference.

Given 4 minutes to provide an experience that could give insight into what it is like to have MS, I'm not sure you could do much better. I was impressed that they had attempted to create a draw to their display that was related to what they do - too many companies fall back on things like "register to win a free iPod."

I was just glad that they didn't try to simulate bladder problems.

I designed a conceptual art piece once of the same thing--what it feels like to be disabled. Never got funded though. No one believed it was an important subject. Nice to know that I'm surrounded by such narcissists that have no notion of what real education is.

A brilliant idea – four minutes in there should be obligatory for every neurologist immediately before they step into the room with an MSer.
