Break Glass In Case Of PML

One of my big complaints after attending the FDA advisory board public hearing on Tysabri was the total lack of discussion on what do you do if (when?) someone else gets PML (progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy) when on Tysabri.

This paper addresses that issue. Since it is possible that someone else on Tysabri will get PML, but it is going to be very rare, there is no way to do a trial around this. So the authors pulled together a list of all the treatments that might be applicable - just in case. Why the FDA didn't require Biogen Idec to do this (or if they did, why it wasn't publicized more), I can't figure.
