Predictors of Interferon Non-Response

This trial looked at 68 subjects on interferons over 6 years. They found that there were variables (e.g. the presence of 'black holes' on MRI) that could be measured in the short term that predict whether someone will respond in the long term to the drugs. This would be useful for quickly pulling people off an expensive and side-effect laden treatment when it wasn't doing anything for them and possibly moving to another treatment.

So those 12 black holes in my brain explain why it didn't work, glad it wasnt just my imagination :-) This will be helpful for those trying to decide whether to give up on interfrons and try an alternative like low dose naltrexone.

I'm just gathering information to give to my neurologist tomorrow about LDN. I am currently on Avonex, which appears to be working. The side effects have become much more tolerable. I have been diagnosed with MS since late fall of 2006.
