Stockholders Sue Biogen, Elan

Businessweek.com reports that Biogen and Elan are facing at least seven potential class action lawsuits from stockholders who allege the two companies artificially inflated the values of their stocks by concealing study data suggesting Tysabri leaves patients vulnerable to PML.

art: Given all this uproar, I'm curious why there wasn't an uproar for Novantrone, in which *8* deaths occurred (read the label) during the trial (and how many post-approval?) and yet it is still prescribed for people with MS. I'm not saying either is OK, just wondering why the difference in reaction.

Maybe the difference comes from the hopes raised for Tysbari as opposed to the reluctance to begin any chemo-therapeutic agent such as Novantrone. Jayne
