o We welcome our new Events Coordinator, Jane Follansbee who will be
handling a range of daily administration tasks as well as taking
over for Sarah Nels on the running of east coast events and
volunteer initiatives. Jane's bio can be found here:

o Sarah Nels has taken on a new role as Assistant Director of Events
and Volunteer Relations and has relocated to San Francisco to open a
new office for us there. She's going to need help getting things up
and running, so if you are able to help out in the bay area, please

o We have two summer interns joining us from MIT to help work on the
Cure Map and Repository - Dawn Spelke and Vivi Vasudevan
o Phyllis Baron has joined our Board of Advisors. Phyllis' bio

o Bob Glanzman of Novartis has joined our Pharmaceutical Advisory
Board. We'll announce availability of his bio as soon as we have it
posted.
o Alexis, who was temping with us for the past month has completed her
tour of duty and has moved on. Thanks for all her help!
o Dave Kaffine, volunteer extraordinaire, contributed a week of his
vacation to working for us on our database here in the office. Wow.

o At the end of May, 477 subjects had enrolled at our five active sites.

o Two more sites have been approved to enroll pediatric subjects in the
repository: Johns Hopkins (Baltimore, MD) and Barrow (Phoenix, AZ).

Other scientific projects:
o Art and Hollie traveled to Long Island, NY to meet with Jim Watson
(co-discoverer of the structure of DNA) and Jan Witkowski of the
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory where we hope to hold a scientific
meeting later this year.
o Art and Hollie caught up with our scientific advisor Peter Lansbury
over lunch and heard about his new Parkinson's disease business
venture.
o Hollie and Art also met with Mehmet Yanik, assistant professor at
MIT, Sandy Aronson, director of IT at the Harvard Center for
Genetics and Genomics, and Isaac Kohane, chair of the informatics
program at Children's Hospital.

o You can raise money for Accelerated Cure Project just by searching
the Internet. Go to http://www.goodsearch.com, type Accelerated Cure

o Art and Melissa had a final meeting with members of the Sloan Tiger
Team assigned to Accelerated Cure Project to investigate how
for-profit corporations select nonprofit partners and what we can do
to be more successful in this area.
o Art flew down to DC to attend a meeting of the MS Coalition. This
group of MS organizations has formed to create a forum for working

o We had a number of meetings with various people:
- Art met with Ken Farbstein about his patient safety blog
- Art and Melissa attended Biotech Tuesday, and receptions at BIO
- Art participated in a conference call to talk about clinical trial

o A big thank you to our many friends and supporters in Cincinnati who
organized and participated in the "Kick MS for Karen" Walk 2007 on
May 12th raising over $6,000 in support of Accelerated Cure Project's efforts
o Another big thank you to the many volunteers, sponsors, and
participants who turned up on May 19th to partake in the Sixth
Annual Hunt to Cure MS Scavenger Hunt in Waltham, MA which raised
over $23,000 for Accelerated Cure Project. Pictures, results, and

o Volunteer Philip Fryer will be the new editor-in-chief of
Accelerated Cure Project's newsletter, starting with the Fall issue.
