>>> Joining/Leaving Us This Month

o Our intern, Jessica Domnitz, has completed her stint working with us
  and will return to her regularly scheduled programming at
  Connecticut College.

>>> Cure Map/Repository

Repository:

o We've enrolled 20 subjects total at Johns Hopkins and the Shepherd
  Center since we last reported status a month ago, and UMass.  to
  enroll their first subject this week.  Other scientific projects:

o The repository was mentioned in the WSJ in an article about advocacy
  groups that are building resources for scientific use:

o We received a sample distribution request from a researcher at
  Stanford and are in the process of fulfilling the request.

o Art, Hollie and Sara met with Daedalus Software in Cambridge, MA to
  learn about their software solutions for managing biorepositories.

Cure Map:

o We continue to make progress on the Cure Map, with the Nutrition
  phase 2 documents now ready for outside review.  Hollie is working
  on completing the Trauma phase 1 document, and our interns Mike and
  Ali are working on the Genetics and Trauma phase 2 documents.

Other Scientific Efforts

o Art and Hollie attended the Second International Rare
  Neuroimmunologic Disorders Symposium organized by Johns Hopkins.  It
  was a good opportunity to connect with our Johns Hopkins colleagues
  and hear about MS research and clinical developments. You can read

o The HuGE manuscript has been sent to a major scientific journal for
  potential publication.

>>> Fundraising

o You can raise money for Accelerated Cure Project just by searching
  the Internet.  Go to www.goodsearch.com, type Accelerated Cure
  Project into the "I support" box and click on "verify," then search
  the Internet just like you would with any search engine.  GoodSearch
  shares its advertising revenue with charities so every time you
  perform a search you'll be earning money for us.

o If you would like to see more things happening in your community to
  support Accelerated Cure Project, check out our Expansion Team
  program.  We are looking for individuals willing to do
  letter-writing campaigns, run events, and set up a named funds:

o The Kelly Packowski MS Foundation (http://www.kpmsfoundation.com) is
  offering a limited number of grants to individuals with MS in New
  England to cover the costs of eight months of coaching services from
  Rosalind Joffe of CIcoach.com (http://www.cicoach.com).  To learn

o MSNews (http://msnews.acceleratedcure.org) continues to run daily updates
  on MS related items. If you come across anything MS related and new
  on the web, please submit it to our site.

o We've been getting a bit of press recently, both for our repository
  and for various volunteer fundraising efforts:

o We had a number of meetings with various people:
  - Art did a radio interview for use on Matrix Media's syndicated
    health programs
  - We met with Avi Kremer and Nate Boaz from Prize4Life.org - an
    organization creating an "X Prize" for ALS research.
  - Art talked to Paula Kim of Pancreatic Cancer Action Network
  - We've been meeting with numerous volunteers at an increased pace.

o Carlo Magno is currently riding in an antique, electric wheelchair
  en route from Seattle to New York City to raise funds and awareness
  for handicapped accessibility and $1 million for MS

o Sierra Doherty hikes the 468-mile Colorado Trail to raise funds and
  awareness for several MS organization, including LDN for MS

o The Greater Cincinnati Cure Project will be hosting a Canine Happy
  Hour on Saturday, August 12th from 3:00-6:00 pm in Cincinnati, OH to

o Congratulations to Lauren Smith, Eric Karls, and Randy Smith for
  completing MS Pedal to the Metal, a bike ride from Chicago to
  Waltham, MA that raised over $21,000 in support of our efforts! You

o Congratulations to Ryan Murphy, Tom Sullivan, Mike Maher and Kevin
  Welch for completing their cross country ride from Seattle to Boston

o Thank you to Mario Raneses for coming out to Waltham on Monday 7/10
  to provide a demonstration of the Segseat, a seated version of the
  Segway that can be used as an alternative to a wheelchair or

  Thanks also to John Hikel who came out that same evening to show us
