Boston Cure Project informal status since last reported on 3/19/02:
We continue our work to cure Multiple Sclerosis via developing the
Cure Map:
o Hollie Schmidt has a first draft of our pathogen document ready for
review. This document breaks down how diseases are caused by
pathogens in a systematic fashion.
o Tim Vartanian has begun a literature search for research on genetics
and MS as it relates to our genetic disease breakdown (available at:
http://www.bostoncure.org/resources/downloads/phase1-genetics.pdf
o We have had an article written about the Cure Map in Physician's
Weekly: http://www.physweekly.com/article.asp?issueid=16&articleid=65
o We've had meetings and phone calls with Pat Moran of Aventis, Fay
Shtern of BIDMC, Neal Finnegan of the NMSS, Howard Breslau of the
BSO, Mark Daly of the Whitehead Institute and Ian Chan of US
Genomics
o Continued the always ongoing fundraising effort. You can make a

o Newsletter and Annual Report mailed and posted to web

o Community Health Charities application completed and submitted which
will allow us to appear on a number of government and corporate
giving programs
Joining us:
o Hollie Schmidt accepted full-time position as VP Scientific
Operations to run the Cure Map effort full-time. Her start date is
May 1.
o Mike Ervolini has joined our Board of Advisors. You can read his bio

o Stacy Schwartz has accepted summer intern position (she is in the
Harvard Business School program) and will start at the end of May.
Volunteer Efforts:
o Bill Babcock set up our news server and Michael Barrow arranged to
get us a free feed of some MS news groups from MIT
o Jill McGaffigan has helped create new financial reports for us
o Brian Del Vecchio has the MS News portal up and running, with Mark
Dombeck, Robin and Dave Dolan, Margaret Doris, Matt Wise, and Brian
as editors and beta testers. We'll be announcing general
availability in the coming weeks.
o Suresh Tipernini cleaned up the site and updated our style sheets
o Deb Brown, Theresa Hahn, and Chad Tempest are working on a web site
redesign
Events:
o We held our first training. Our "MS 101 class" was well received and
well attended. It was developed and run by Allitia DiBernardo.
