Hello!

This is the first message going out to the bcp-status list. If you're
getting this message, it's because you signed up for this list.

What I'd like to try and do on bcp-status is give an informal update
on some of the more day-to-day things we are doing at the Boston Cure
Project. I hope to send these out a couple of times a month.

Rather than re-cap everything we did last year, I'll just mention that
I spent last week writing our Annual Report which will cover all those
details. We'll be sending that out to all donors who contributed $100
or more and making it available on our website for anyone else. We
will, of course, also send a copy to anyone specifically requesting
one (but please wait until I announce its availability).

As for this year, we've been involved in a lot of planning activities
to get moving in 2002 during the past few weeks. Items of note
include:

o Completed Cure Map Overview document, available at:
   http://www.bostoncure.org/resources/downloads/curemap-overview.pdf
Free PDF reader - the internet standard - available at:
   http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html

This document describes our Cure Map strategy in much greater
detail than what was on our web site before.

o Phase 1 structure for genetic disorders completed and out for review
with some geneticists - we'll post that to the web site after the
  review period.

o We have appointed a Volunteer Coordinator, Debbie Burrage, to help
spearhead our Volunteer effort this year. We'll be holding regular
volunteer orientation meetings, the first one will be on Feb 12 at
7pm at our offices in Waltham. If you are interested in attending,
let Debbie know at dab at bostoncure.org. You can sign up for the
  volunteer email list at:
  http://www.bostoncure.org/default.php?nav=contact&topic=subscribe

o We have selected a fundraising consultant to help us with our
  fundraising processes and strategy.

o We have brought on 2 new board members - Hollie Schmidt and John
Reardon - and begun to fill up our Scientific Advisory Boards. You
can read the bios of people at:
  http://www.bostoncure.org/default.php?nav=bcp&topic=people

o Annual Report in progress

o The first edition of our quarterly Newsletter in progress

o MS 101 document (and class) in development - this paper will detail
what we know about MS today, why we think we know it, what a
diagnosis of MS "means", etc. We hope to hold a quarterly class to
educate interested parties on MS based on this work.

o Begun work on financial planning for 2002

Well, that's about it for the year so far - feel free to email me with
questions (or call).

Regards,
Art Mellor
President & CEO Boston Cure Project, Inc.
