BLUE SKY COLLABORATIVE TO LAUNCH GRASSROOTS FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN FOR BOSTON CURE PROJECT
Dedham and Westborough, Mass - July 26, 2004 - An innovative new
grassroots fundraising campaign was launched today by Blue Sky
Collaborative for the Boston Cure Project, a Massachusetts based
national nonprofit organization dedicated to curing Multiple Sclerosis
(MS).
The campaign is expected to raise over $100,000 for the Boston Cure
Project in the next year, and to build a foundation for an ongoing
grassroots fundraising and awareness building program.
MS is a debilitating disease that afflicts over 400,000
nation-wide. It has no known cure, and only limited treatments are
available. The Boston Cure Project is working to determine the causes
of MS and to use what they learn to develop a cure.
In the past 2 years, several Boston Cure Project supporters have
already taken the first steps with their own fundraising efforts on
behalf of the organization, raising more than $200K in 2003
alone. Blue Sky Collaborative is working with the Boston Cure Project
to take grassroots fundraising to the next level of success by
increasing the number of people involved, giving them the tools that
they need to expand on success that they have had, and providing the
Boston Cure Project with the infrastructure to sustain fundraising and
awareness building networks.
Blue Sky Collaborative will provide supporters with one-on-one
coaching as well as a comprehensive resource guide on how to put
together a fundraising activity. Each supporter will also be able to
take their efforts online by creating their own pages on a website
dedicated to the campaign (expansion.bostoncure.org).
"What I like most about Blue Sky Collaborative is that they are
actually doing the work," said Art Mellor, President & CEO,
Co-Founder, president of the Boston Cure Project. "We're a small
organization and we knew that we needed to develop a stronger
grassroots component in our capital campaign, but never had the time
or resources to do it. They solved that problem for us. Now when one
of our supporters asks if there anything else they can do, I point
them to Blue Sky Collaborative."
Grassroots fundraising is an increasingly popular choice for
nonprofits who want to maximize their fundraising and awareness
building capabilities while keeping their costs low. It is also a way
for individuals to play a more active role in a cause they believe in.
"Our products and services make sense for Boston Cure Project. As a
small organization, their resources are limited. So they supplemented
their development portfolio by adding an effective system that allows
their supporters to shoulder some of the fundraising burden while
conserving organizational resources. Smaller nonprofits that compete
with nationally known organizations for donors should incorporate
grassroots fundraising into their fundraising portfolio. It evens the
playing field." said Syam Buradagunta, President & CEO, Co-founder of
Blue Sky Collaborative.

About The Boston Cure Project
The Boston Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis, www.bostoncure.org, is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to curing Multiple Sclerosis (MS) by determining its causes. Boston Cure Project believes this effort can be accelerated by organizing the research process and encouraging collaboration between research organizations and clinicians. A "Cure Map" is currently being developed by the Boston Cure Project to establish what is known and what is not known about the causes of MS. From the Cure Map, Boston Cure Project will facilitate research most likely to reveal the causes of MS in the shortest time through a large-scale, multidisciplinary, MS Repository. For more information about the Boston Cure Project or to make a corporate or individual donation, call 781/487-0008, visit bostoncure.org, or send an email to info-web0706_no_spam_please_@i_mean_it.no_spam_whatsoever.bostoncure.org.
